Ok... I recently got an 84 Z28 from a friend. I ended up hydrolocking the 305 that was in it, so I hastely put a brand new sb350 longblock that I had gotten from Pep Boys in it. I put a new radiator in with the motor and it already has a new turbo 350 tranny and a ford 9" rear end. Anyways, I put the old intake and carb from the 305 on it and replaced the p/s pump, alt, water pump. I have the timing set right, but my problem is that when I stomp the gas, it falls on it's face. It has an aftermarket inline fuel pump with a brand new filter in it. I was on a trip when on the last 100 feet it wasn't responding to the gas pedal. It kicked back in all of a sudden, but wouldn't start after I turned it off. I pulled the power connectors off the fuel pump and put them back on and it started. I noticed a huge increase in power for the next 30 miles or so... it was a beast. It's back to the way it was again, and I now know what it can do. Please help.

If Your Are Trying To Pump Fuel Through The Original Pump Thats Built In The Tank ... Thats Your Problem. It Just Doesn't Work Very Well. You Need To Either Remove The Pump Thats In The Tank And Fabricate A Pickup Tube Or Find A Tank Thats Made For A Mechanical Fuel Pump And Install It. If It Doesn't Have A Pump In The Tank ... Try Mounting The Inline Close To The Tank. It's Easier For A Pump To Push Gas Than To Pull It Or Go Back With A Mechanical. They Are Designed For A Carbed Motor And They Work Best. Sick

It has the same setup it had when the original 305HO was in it and it was fine, so I don't think that's it. there's no pump in the tank... just the external one and it is right next to the tank.

that old carb was tuned perfect for a 305. when you stuff more cubic inches under it, it wont be getting as much gas as it requires. set your fuel mixture more rich. if its not that the like sick said, you have a fuel pump issue.
