Since I'm taking over this section, I wanted to get a good grasp of what the yearly ROTM schedule is. I have read threw the other sticky and the poll thread and seems to be a majority want the generations twice a year, especially the mods, so that has to stay. And the v6 catagory also. With the new 5th gen coming out this month, that will added in also. So here is my plan for the yearly ROTM schedule.
For 2009
Jan - 1st gen
Feb - 2nd gen
Mar - 3rd gen
Apr - 4th gen
May - V6, any year
Jun - 1st gen
Jul - 2nd gen
Aug - 3rd gen
Sep - 4th gen
Oct - 5th gen
Nov - ???
Dec - ???
The reason 5th gen isn't until Oct is because it might take some time to get the group on CF and that will also give the owners to make their cars theres, so the noms wouldn't all have the same car.
So what is needed is two more catagories to finish out this month. Some options that I think would work good are:
- firebird
- mostly stock, any year (would give the not so rich guys a chance to get in there. I'm thinking up to 2 appearance mods and up to 3 bolt ons, details would have to be worked out)
- highly modified, any year (yet again, a lot of people could get into this one)
So with that, let me know what you think as far as potential catagories that can be added in.
Please read this thread before you post something that's already been ruled out by mods.

I say Outlaw F-Body (Non-Camaro owners but they still drive an F-Body) or just a full Outlaw category (anybody without a Camaro)
And then maybe a Ride of the year thing in Dec between the winners of all Previous months?

I think the ROTY should be in Jan and include all 12 winners of the ROTM. But that will come in time.

I like the idea of complete out-law category, anything other than Camaros, even if it means something that's not GM, as well as the ROTY idea. Next year we will have two 5th gen rotm so we will keep the roty and kill the outlaw category.

convertibles category :D no really, I like the idea of an outlaw category, it'll give the mustang owners a chance to prove that what we think is wrong and that men drive those cars too :P

have to have an outlaw class

here's what we figured on chat last night.... THIS year, we'll have an outlaw AND aROTY category in different months. Next year, there wont be any open spots since there will be two 5th gen ROTMs, so the outlaw category would be in the same month as the ROTY, and it would be more of like, outlaw of the year. Change the V6 category to all 6cyls too. I think that's the best option.

Maybe a 4th gen V6 and then a 6 cyn 1st-3rd gen. I think there's more v6 4th gens on CF and only a handfull of 6 cyn 1-3 gen.

so if i read what you said correctly...there won't be a camaro ROTY?

I'm hoping there will be a camaro ROTY, if we do the outlaw month, then it will be with 11 ROTM winners.

ROTY would be intense! i definitely say we go for ROTY...but take the outlaw car out of it.
so you can have 12 ROTM...just have the outlaw and ROTY in the same month

That's what we've been saying. Have like, outlaw of the year and ROTY in the same month.

Just do ROTY in january, as well as ROTM, that way things go on as usual, and we still get the one MEGA ROT!

I still wanna make the CF ROTM poster with all the winners, or a calendar. I made a poster already, but it was just picture submissions. I really miss messing around with that, had too much fun.
Steve a calendar with all of the winners would be sick bro. I'd definitely buy one lol.

04-22-2009, 11:37 PM
Yeah, but the production cost would be have to be covered somewhere for that, and then the distrobution via online orders would take up a lot of time. Unless we only did a limited run of like 100-150, then it would be a collectors item.
MusicMan
04-22-2009, 11:45 PM
It would be through cafe press. They produce everything, and ship it. No work for me. If I actually went to a shop and had fancy calendars made, then I would need at least 5mp pics from each winner, and I have doubts that would be feasible.

I wanted to run this by you all and get your thoughts on this. Some people have expressed a maybe we don't do the two rounds of the gens each year. I think if we don't then maybe we could get more people into other catagories. I'm going to suggest this schedule below, tell me what you think.
For 2010
Jan - 1st gen
Feb - Young Guns (16-24 years old)
Mar - 2nd gen
Apr - Unique Whip (This would be the most unique camaro, any year)(Lots of ways people could view this and could protentially involve a lot of people)
May - 3rd gen
Jun - Mid life crisis (25-38 year old, any year camaro)
Jul - 4th gen
Aug - Most modified (open to any year)
Sep - 5th gen
Oct - 6 cylinder any year
Nov - Over the Hill, sponsored by extenze (39 and up years old, any camaro)
Dec - Outlaw (any vehicle other than camaro)/ROTY
The point behind these catagories is to get max participation and try to involve more people in the ROTM's. I believe with these cats we would open the ROTM's up to more people on the forum and thus really have fun with this.
Please tell me what you think about these catagories and make suggestions. But please keep in mind that we want to open it up so more people are eligible to be nom'd for ROTM and ultimately ROTY.
Edit: I also wanted to make one rule change. And that is: You can not be in two consecative ROTM's. I think this would broaden the participants across the forum.

My big question here is what the difference is between "Unique Whip" and "Most modified"
Aside from that, my only real thoughts are V6 and "any 6-cyl" should be one ROTM only, rather than having one for each; let's face it, l6s aren't exactly popular :p
And if we're going to have a "best modified" we should also have a "best stock" run as well, which should be limited to cars that are OEM-spec only.
That's my CAN$0.02 anyway.

I dunno, I like the current setup we have. Nothing wrong with it. The 5th gens aren't going to be here for another year or so, I wouldn't worry about putting them in ROTM until we actually have some members who have one.

There is only gonig to be one 6 cylinder ROTM and includes any 6 from any year. As far as the stock ROTM goes, I don't think we'd have enough to actually do one. I can only think of yours and maybe two other 3rd gens that might be stock. But I don't know for sure. If there's a demand for one then I'll put it in.
My thinking behind the best modified would be motor wise. And then the unique whip would be just the uniqueness of the whole car. But I can see your point and will rethink those two.

We already have our first 5th gen guy to sign up on the forum. And I would suspect that by the end of the May we'll have a few more. It's going to be one of those wait and see kinda things, so it may get pushed back to nov or replaced so we can try out one of the newer catagories.

What about doing a month for cars in 1/4 times?. Maybe just one month for cars running 12's.. any type of car but you gotta have a time slip to show!
just an idea. i dont know how many of you will actually support it, but this thread is here to throw out some ideas., so ther you have it

I think the prob with running ROTM on times is that we don't have enough spots to get a good range of ETs....

I really don't know if the 12 sec idea would work. 1. I not to sure there are enough cars on this forum that do 12's. 2. We can't have more than one "outlaw" rotm's because it is the CF. One is good because it allows for ROTY also.

04-23-2009, 07:11 PM
^ exactly, and if we do the ROTY and the outlaw in the same month, it doesn't take one month out for the running FOR ROTY. Like Arrow said before, we can have a potential outlaw ROTY for a CAMARO forum.

i like that set up arrow...is there a rule on lets say i won any of the first couple months, could i win again in the same year besides ROTY? i just don't think someone that won once in the year should win again...personal opinion. i guess if i won already and there was another month i was nominated for in the same year i'd just decline it...anywho...just my thoughts but otherwise i like that setup and i also think it would get some definite action among cars that otherwise wouldn't probably make it

Ok, here you go, this is what I'm looking to do for next year. The only thing to change from the previous version is the month of Aug. Changed it from "Most Modified" to "Who's got muscle." This comes from someone pointed it out that there would be a grey line between it and unique whip. So let me know if this makes sense, and you think we have the members and the cars to get good participation for these catagories?

Yeah... My vote lies with ROTY in december which would have 11 winners. No need for a 5th gen this year its way to new and not enough people on this board will have one, much less..... time to do anything with it before voting time.
Not to sure about the OUTlaw thing, I mean there are a billion forums that are NOT make/model/year specific so I think they should post there. For the past 7yrs anything dealing with Camaros including the cars themselves, has become and continues to become more and more limited. Hopefully the 5gen will peak interest but no matter how good sales are, Fbody owners are a very small niche.
So IMO, I think we should'nt give 1 of only 12 months to a non Fbody car :)
