mattvogt 03-04-2006, 04:54 PM Hey guys, I am making a set of exhaust cut outs for my 81. I want to have them blocked out when Im not using them but I cant find a plate to do it with. Please help me out. here is a picture of what I want to get. Thanks. Matt
thanks for the help. Matt
JD1969 03-04-2006, 07:15 PM most people just buy the kit that comes with the plate. Or you can just make it out of some 12 gauge sheet.
nj85z28 03-05-2006, 10:09 PM jegs has a nice set of electric cutouts
mattvogt 03-07-2006, 08:16 PM the problem is that I work for CHASE-PITKIN and they are going out of buisness so my 45.00 a week is gone. 250 dollar electric cut outs are out of the question. But honestly for 15 bucks and some work I think I can do it. I have tons of time after school anyways. I cut the pipe at a 45 degree angle and I will cut out the oval tonight. Hopefully I can weld it in the next few days. THanks for the input.

mattvogt 03-11-2006, 09:02 PM I just made the first hole, seems that I cut it too large. I will try to correct the problem
Ill take pics so I can show the project when Im done.
JD1969 03-12-2006, 01:09 AM I can make a template for you of my block off plate, or a drawing showing the correct detail
mattvogt 03-12-2006, 12:32 PM sure, that would be great. Thanks for the help.

JD1969 03-12-2006, 02:07 PM OK gimmie a day to get to the car, it's under some crap in the shop right now.
mattvogt 03-13-2006, 11:37 PM I just finished grinding the crap out of one of the sides. I have it tack welded in place and will weld it tomarow hopefully.
mattvogt 03-18-2006, 01:03 AM I got one completly welded. The other was cut in school today. Will hopefully grind and weld by tuesday.
Ill get some pics soon.
mattvogt 04-12-2006, 06:46 PM finished welding over the weekend. They are almost ready for installation.
mattvogt 04-29-2006, 11:12 AM I am giving up on these for now since I bought a set of side pipes. I will have no need for the cut outs with the side pipes. The cut outs will be finished and put on my brothers truck when he gets one.
Just thought Id let you know.

Dude your putting side pipes on a Camaro???[:'(]
mattvogt 05-03-2006, 10:12 PM Tell me you have never seen sidepipes on a camaro. Go to google images, type in baldwin motion camaro. You will see them there. Good luck
JD1969 05-03-2006, 10:21 PM Trust me I know what a Baldwin Motion car is. I am just not a fan of side pipes on any car but a 427 Cobra. They look too 70's disco to me.
TimmyTheWop89 05-03-2006, 10:59 PM you cant really mess wiht a 3rd and 4th generation camaros body. i think sidepipes would not look good at all. the 3rd and 4th gens are very sleek simple cars, and should be kept that way when doing anything they may affect the outside look.
94Z28SHAKER 05-05-2006, 08:44 PM yes, besides having horrible ground clearance, the sidepipes make 3rd and 4th gens look Ghetto, unless completely chromed out.
mattvogt 05-11-2006, 08:56 AM Except that my car is a 81 which makes it a 2nd gen. It looks sweet, Ill get some pics up when its done. I am not going to drive this car too often so who cares.
Thanks
