Default Lt1 build

Hey guys,

Well long story short, my timing chain snapped, fixed it, and lots of other ****, initial start up, valves are bent. my luck. anyways!!

I need help in finding out what parts to get for my camaro. I want to get new heads, cam, headers, clutch. I got a budget of 3000 in parts.. I would like to get this bad boy up to around 375-400 hp possibly.

I just want to know what heads i should get, cam options, header preferences, and clutch. Im not sure what to get for a clutch, i hear too many things from people. I've seen those ebay clutches like f1 and all that **** and read a lot of bad things.

PLEASE send me some advice!

Thanks guys!

$3K budget? My suggestion...

For heads and cam, I'd suggest talking to Lyllod Elliot. He's the big name when it comes to fourth gen Camaros. His LE2 heads support 370 rwhp to 410+ depending on what cam you go with. For $200 more he can do your intake too.

So assuming you go with LE2 heads, cam, and p/p intake, you're looking at $1800. That leaves you with $1200. I'd suggest Pacesetter headers since they're budget friendly, usually $300 for just the headers. Do you need cats for inspection? If so you'll either need to buy a catted y-pipe or make your own. If not, that makes it easier. So with just headers, you're down to about $900.

That last bit you can spend on a new clutch set. I don't much there, so someone else will have to jump in on that.

Before you do anything though, I'd go through your engine and make sure everything else is good to go before you spend money on this stuff.

will his trans support all that?

I would strongly recommend ensuring that it can before you throw parts on an punch the gas... Heads, Headers, intake, PLUGS, WIRES, OPTI, WATER PUMP, then cam...

EGR/air delete and if you have the funds look into a trans tune up... (better safe than sorry)

I honestly overlooked that. Sorta figured the T-56 could handle it, but then again maybe not. Also, the 10 bolt will last for only so long with that power. My new suggestion would be to safe up the funds to do all that AND a transmission/rear end/frame build up.

The T56 is torque rated at 450 ft/lb. It'll hold up as long as you don't go beating the crap out of it constantly.
You can pretty much break anything on your car if you try hard enough.

for 3k maybe you can do the motor. then save for headers and exhaust. then save for rearend. lol. youll be good at saving anyways. you will need to do the lower end of the motor if your doing the heads and such. have block and crank checked and all new seals, bearings and rings. at least get it back to stock specs. you will need roller rockers, hardened push rods, bigger tb, bigger injectors, tune and whatever i am forgetting.
