Subframe Connectors?
 

Ok, I think these questions go in this catagory, but I'm in no way a "gear head" or anything. I was over at another forum where they were talking about the new Camaro not having T-tops and some one person said that it was ok because he didn't want to have to put in subframe connectors again.

I've seen "subframe connectors" and T-tops linked together in the same conversation more than a few times. I did a search here, but didn't really find much info. It sounds like since the roof of the car is partially cut out, it makes the car less stable, and these connectors make the body more solid. Is that right?

Also where do the connectors go? I would like to know if my car has them already, but I don't know where people usually put them (I assume under the frame, but I don't know). If I don't have them already, do I need them or will my car be ok without them?

If it helps I have a stock 2002 z28, manual transmission with about 78,000 miles.

They go on underneath the car. If your car is completely stock it does not have them.

Ok I was right about them being on the bottom of the car. Now I'm not sure my car is completely stock, but from looking at the interior, body, and under the hood, everything looks stock.

So where under the car would they be and what am I looking for? Also do I need them, or will I as I put more miles on the car?

DMateo, I think they make the frame or body of the car more stable.

Anyone else have input to these burning questions?

They tighten up the body so it doesn't twist as much during turns. You don't need them now or later. They are merely an addition to the suspension to help is all out. To answer your question as to what you are looking for to see if you have them... Look them up on Yahoo or Google to see what they look like, and look under your car. They would be under the cabin of the car, and run longways (front to back) instead of side to side.
