my polished alum rims are doing the same thing. i think its water starting to corrode the finish. i have been told to pick up a buffer to get them out or send them in to be reconditioned. dont have the time for one or the bucks for the other right now so im just putting up with it for a while. lol. sorry thats all i got for ya. ive tried the mothers too with the same results.

I've never used Mother's polish to compare. But I'm pretty sold on Flitz. I've used it on a lot of stuff, one being an old 70's Vette wheel, and it cut the corrosion and polished it to a chrome like shine.

I've used really fine steel wool on some polished metals rust and that's worked well while using soapy water. Not sure if it will work on aluminum though as I've never done that. I would do a patch test somewhere that's not easily seen if you give it a try. Is the back side of the rim polished and stained like that also? If so test it out there. Quality steel wool can be bought for cheap at a local hardware store.

Make sure you get the fine quality and not the coarse. It's kind of like a sand paper rating IIRC.
