Hood Vents

So on my hood are a set of fake vents... they look nice but when i bought the car i thought they were real vents.

The car seems to like the cool air when I first start it up but when the air heats up inside then engine compartment it seems as though I lose some slight power... i'm not talking a lot but enough i can tell a difference...

I wanted to know what you all thought about cutting open the hood under where the vents go and making them fully functional... and by fully functional I mean modifying the vents to the point where theres a cable hooked to the linkage on the carb so when i press the gas pedal farther the vents open farther

i was wondering if it might help keep the engine a bit cooler as well

it's not a question of how to do it i have that all figured out but a question of just what you all think... I plan on doing this during this winter while I'm bored and getting cabin fever...:icon_playing:
