Yeah i have heard that the GTO's are really heavy. But I agree with TheStig it would bea drivers race.

 

stop smokie da pipey maybe....... as stig stated stock record for a LS1 Fbody is 12.8 if you cant drive at all youll run a 13.5 ive seen LS1 run conssistant 12's just with new rubber the LT1 is a great engine at its time but if you just look at the heads on the ls1 youll know that the Lt1 is out classed ......

back to the original question, the first 4.6DOHC has a goofy power band. they make 305 peak, but they dont make it for long. they are actually a drivers race against the 99-04GT's.

 

The LS1 hold her power good and makes good top end. You should be able to take the snake with no proble from a dig. For the GTO if shes a LS1 its no race you will kill her. For the LS2 its going to be closs. Back when all i had was good ruber, intake, and exhaust i ran a LS2 with basicly the same mods and both where autos, both runing 275s. First time i lost by .03 the second time i won by .02. We where never more than a full car apart. Both time's we where in the 13.2s
