Default Who Would Win?

One of my friends wants to race me when I get my Camaro running. I'm going to be running a 350 small block with over 450 horsepower, Hooker Super Competition Headers, FlowMaster Super 40's with 3.00" Tubing, heavy duty leaf springs, TH350 Transmission, 4.10 on the gear ratio, pretty much everything I need to handle any redlight encounter. He drives a Corvette around the same year and color as this one, http://www.cvcc1.homestead.com/files...0_Corvette.jpg. Except his is a piece a ****. His paint is chipping, it rusting, he blew the original motor, replaced it with a crappy 400 small block, only one emblem still on his car, and it has the 'C' broken off so it's really a "Orvette", the list goes on. I asked him what all he had in his motor and he just said "I got a chrome alternator." and he "thinks" it's a stroker. When I told him I was putting a FlowMaster exhaust system on my Camaro he replies "My 'Vette has FlowMasters... I think." He's convinced that his rust bucket can beat my Camaro. I can't wait to see his face when he loses. [&:]

Sounds like he's full of it

If you have everything you say, and you take care of your car, there is no contest.

Sounds like his car is a POS. What is your complete combination because what you listed is not good for 300 hp, much less 450.

thats what i was thinking. are u going with a built crate motor and just doing exhaust after? what year 350? like JD said, the older 350's with just headers wont even hit 300 crank hp

We haven't started on the motor yet, so it's a standard 350. We haven't checked the numbers yet, we've been focusing on body work. But my dad can do wonders with small blocks. What would do you think is a good set up for a 450 hp engine? I'm alittle clueless when it comes to engines and stuff, but I can work wonders with paint and body work.

it will take some head work and a big cam to get it there, but its doable. depends alot on the heads you plan to run and what compression you are going for

a 350 short block in good shape with a mild cam and some off the shelf vortec heads with LS1 valve springs will make 441hp (as long as it has everything else to support the power). i know i've done it and a guy i work with runs 7.0's in his full interior 355 vortec headed 3rd gen.....

I would like to know a little more about your off the shelf vortec head 350 short block making 441 hp what are the specifics? Is the guy running 7.0s using a power adder?
