This guy is a buddy of mine, and we thought wed go out and have some fun. 1st race from a dig, he spins, and I clean house. woot.....

2nd race. dig. I launch a little too low and bog but not bad. he jumps out about 2 cars and when I pick it back up he just holds. I thought for sure I would reel him in by end of 2nd or into 3rd but no. we got out of it around 100mph but I could tell nothing was changing.

3rd race, 30mph roll. I give the honks, and i pull a little on him, and then slowly inch him out. Not what i was expecting at all.



The mustang is a 4.6 stroked to 302, agressive nitrous cams (he didnt spray, this was motor to motor), and ported heads with full boltons, gears, and drag radials.

I talked to him some after and said i wanted to get the tuner out and see how it scanned because I could smell some smoke after the runs and he told me he could smell my clutch burning after the last pass [:@]. but hey, at least I know why i didnt pull on him. anyone wanna ship me out a ram or centerforce clutch and steele flysheel?

 

Our king is defeated! We surrender! lol, well, fast cars are projects right? No worries, you'll get him. You sure the clutch is going, or is he pulling your leg?

 

Spec, I'll be happy to ship you out a clutch if you get me a money order (or PayPal works too...) for $2800 so I can do my topend...sound like a deal?

i had been suspecting clutch for awhile. I personally dont know the symptoms, just know what i read on tech, which is the ls1 clutch is garbage, the ls6 clutch which came on newer fbodies is better but still crap. apparently the ls1 clutch cant handle much over 400bhp before it starts to slip. this guy isnt much to BS either. im looking @ ram powergrip HD right now. about 670 out the door [&:]

 

Ouch, I thought my clutch kit was going to be expensive, $300 here.

 

im getting a new flywheel too, and a clutch that will hold up to 600hp (id like to do the spec 3+ but its 200 dollars more expensive [:@])

 

Ah, gotcha. Just curious, what do you think it'll run in the quarter with all it's got, including the new clutch?

so you dont know when you clutch is slipping? how does he know it was you clutch and not the brakes? smells the same
