RE: Lancer Evo?
lol okay
dsm means diamond star motors
what happened... was that mitsubishi and chrysler decided to start producing cars together, and those cars were the eclipse, plymouth laser, and eagle talon
and then when the second gen eclipse came out... i think that was 94 or 95... chrysler left and mitsubishi took control of DSM and renamed it mitsubishi north america
so yeah
the only DSMs are 1st gen eclipses talons and lasers

Haha nice car man, I was extremely close to buying that exact camaro out of NY. How them subs workin for ya? And my buddy has a brand new EVO. stock HP 320 (he says). So If I were you I would hope the kid can't drive. turbo AWD has a bit on our RWD sloppy traction. If I happen to find out my z28 beats his evo ill let u know. Nice car by teh way, it didn't take long to sell tahts for sure.

hold the brake. you should do this even with a stall. preload all the drivetrain parts.

RE: Lancer Evo?
push it to the floor, then rev to about 2k... or however much the stock converter goes to... and drop it like you would the clutch on a standard transmission while slamming the gas at the same time... okay hard to explain but whatever

so then what does a stall do exactly? allow you to launch at higher rpms?

RE: Lancer Evo?
your converter uses fluid pressure to operate. this is the mechanism that allows it to slip when you are stopped, otherwise the motor would get dragged down and stall. so even though your stall is at xxx RPM, you can get a little more out of it. so do as poison said, hold the brake hard, and start giving it gas. you want to rev until you think the brakes cannot hold the rear wheels and the car is about to start a brake stand..... kinda...... you will be able to get a little more out of your verter than the stall says. not much, but a little. the higher you are able to get your rpm the more power you will be making off the line and the better your 60' will be (assuming you dont spin).
the other thing this does is it reduces the thrashing your drivetrain takes on the launch. if you just mash the gas all of the drivetrain components will just get slapped together. however if you preload all of them like this then you get a smooth take off, no parts getting thrown together. you can get away with making some more power without breaking things

RE: Lancer Evo?
I wouldn't suggest revving the car to 2K rpm and then mashing on the gas, this is a great way to make tire smoke all through first gear, especially on stock rubber. If you had drag radials it would be a different story. I can say from experience that when I revved my car to 2K and just hit the gas off the start the tires slipped all through 1st gear. You can't just mash the gas, it's going to take some practice for you to learn how much the car can take before the tires break loose.
