Best way to street race an automatic ls1?
Whats the best way to race an ls1 from a dig and a roll? I would assume from a roll just drop it OD and let the engine do the work. But from a dig, whats the best possible way to get the best jump? And what about traction control? I hear about ppl turning it on and off and it helping, whats that all about and how do I toggle it?

How do you toggle traction control?
Leave it in D the whole race? I've done that before by accident with a WOT and it felt like the transmission was really starting to hurt cause it needed a higher gear. As soon as I threw it into OD it was fine the rest of the way out

Traction control is the switch on your dash that says ASR, turn it off. How fast were you going that D felt like it was running out? I can probably go 130 mph in D. Don't tell me your one of the tools that races for top end.

Yeah I don't have that ASR switch, its just a blockoff. Does that mean I don't have ASR at all? or just that its on all the time? D feels like it wants to shift at around 40-50 mph. Why would you go 130 in D when the engine feels so much more comfortable doing it in OD? And what do you mean I'm a tool that races for top end?

You probably don't have ASR, so it would not be on at all, ever. I don't let my car go into OD when racing because OD is not made to race in, in fact the computor will not be at WOT in OD (4th gear). And IMO people who race for top end out on the highway are tools, it's unsafe and dumb. A race is a 1/4 mile drag. If your car feels like it wants to shift into OD at 50 mph at WOT, there is somthing up with trans.

As JD said, let the computer worry about the shifting. Just give it as much throttle as it can take without smoking the tires. A slight blue haze will give the best resuts. If your engine is revved out in D (check your tach)before you reach the end of the 1/4, you either have some very low rear end gears, or you are moving much faster than a basically stock Camaro should. The traction control is to help in slippery road condition, and should be turned off for racing. The most important, practice, practice, practice. A slower car will eat your lunch, till you learn how to control yours.

i was at thr track an tested it all out i slap sticked it my first time ever at the track an got a 13.6 my very first run, then left it in OD the second the differences was a thousands of a second so idk i always slap stick i feel that is gives better shifts but idk... not realy much of a diff they are both the same if u do it right

Hmmm I'm gonna have to check that out again on the highway. Its just usually when I get up to about 50 I feel the rpm's getting higher and then I shift it into OD and the rpm's settle down. I'm gonna test the WOT on D and see what happens
