Im restorin a 79 Z28 and im puttin a 350(about 300 HP)in it and a turbo 350 transmission and its got a 3.42 locking rear end and when im done restorin it im goin to race my brother and hes got an 86 mustang GT and its got a 302 in it T-5 transmission 2.73 rear end BBK headers and Bassani Xpipe. I was wonderin who do u think would win?[sm=burnout.gif]

I can't see why you won't win handily. There is no substantial difference in weight. You have a 350 to a 302, 300 HP or thereabouts (are you sure its mot more like 265) to about 235 maybe), and 20% higher gearing. I don't think the auto trans will matter one way or the other, but bave you done anything to the stall speed of the Turbo 350 so you get off the line faster.

I can't see how it will be much of a contest. You can get 300+ out of a 302, but from what you said he is no where near that.

 

i think i could beat him but his 302 has some power and his car weighs less

 

i havent messed with the stall speed yet but it does have a shift kit

 

if you have 300hp, you should win because his 5.0 with some exhaust mods isnt going to build anywhere near that and his gears will hurt him,.

 

Plus a 2.73 is just an awfull gear for a fairly stock 302, they lack torque and that gear makes it worse.
