out of all the beaners i have most respect for a subaru b/c of its engineering & performance but thats not saying alot for me b/c idont like anyforeign made cars.

Subaru is from Japan [sm=bangbang.gif]they are owned by Fuji Heavy Industries. (i am a Subaru Senior Master Tech) the WRX is a quick car for a stock 4 banger with only a 2.0, but the 06 and up have a 2.5 turbo which is bit stonger on low end than the 2.0turbo cars , the Legacy GT has a 2.5L turbo or a 3.0L H6 both engines making 250hp...which isn't alot but the cars are pretty light (they don't have a transfer case for the AWD it is part of the trans). the WRX and the Legacy GT are a really good run. i have also heard word through the grape vine that a Legacy STi is in the works that should make 350- 375 hp. the Forester is also avalible with the 250 hp 2.5L turbo (the XT) and they are a sleeper. little mini suv packin a 250hp awd with a 5spd they are damn quick. and the engines in Subs are H4 and H6's , they are not a V configuration , the weight of the AWD on those cars is not much, the only extra parts are the drive shaft and rear diff. the axles for the front come straight out of the trans.the trans in those ares weighs about the same if not less than a 700R and the engine is aluminum block and heads. the STi has an awesome AWD set up, all three diffs are electronic and the hood and fenders are aluminum for futher weigh reduction.

 

I still say that a STI will not destroy an LS1 from a roll.

 

the STi is gonna be strongest right off the line where the AWD can do it's job. the LS1 makes300 ft of tq from 1800rpm up the STi makes maximum torque @ 4000 rpm....which is 300 ft lbs....

 

sohow did i lay waste to an STI in a slightly modded94 Z? seriously.. do you think he messed up? we did a 55ish roll i started in 2nd , then we did a dig, where he stayed closer, but still behind.. what went wrong for him?

 

my friends brother in law has a worked STI that dynoed 420 to the wheels. It was crazy fast.He gave me a ride in it when it was bone stock though and it still really suprised me. Itdefinitely felt faster than my Z. I'm guessing he may have missed a gear or just plain sucks and driving a stick, or the car wasn't running right.Sad to say but a STI should definitely beat a lightly modded LT1.

 

a stock STi will beat a stock LT1 no argument , but it will not beat a LS1 car, they run the same #'s stock. a driver hat knows what he's doing can break in to the high 12's with a stock LS1 car. i have never heard of a STi hitting high 12's factory stock, and deal with alot of STi's (as i stated in a earlier post i am a Subaru tech)

okay, here it is, im not sure about an LS1 but however a bone stock LT1 can beat a STI. However not in a 1/4 mile from a dig,my LT1 lost about a car (this was before i got my cat-back done 2 days ago). Anyways the kid i ran just got a 2004 STI bone stock. The car is fairly quick, however at around 105, 110 mph the AWD eats up that power like crazy! I ran 3 times from a 40 mph roll, the first time i we ran up to 120 mph and beat him by about a car's length, the second time we ran up to 135mph and got him by about 3 cars and the last time we went up to 150mph and had him by 5 or more cars. But with miminal work on an LT1 it should be fairly easy to beat an STI that is if it's an 04-05, the new one's run almost into the 12s!
