A stock STI (or Evo for that matter) is a low 13 car, so is the LS1 Fbody. I don't see how a car that runs the same time could be owned. BTW this is only from a dig, a roll race and the LS1 will have a definate advantage as AWD saps a good amount of power.

there have been a few STi's run at our local 1/8th track and the best i have seen from one bone stock is a 8.67.....that's not much faster than my stock LT1 SS. i ran a 8.8 last Friday night.a stock LS1 car is good for a 13.3 1/4, so is the STi ,so with a good driver i see no reason why a stock LS1 car should loose to a STi. and with a few basic bolt-ons a LS1 should kill a STi , sure the STi is going to jump off the line , but the LS1 will run him down on the high end. and the Mustang Cobra is said to run 12.9 stock. i have seen a few running @ the local track and i see no reason why they can't run a 12.9 with a driver that knows how to drive.

I'm 100% all for reardrive V-8 cars with big hairy *****. I hate ta say it however, that WRX would probably win because all the US car makers threw performance out the door until this past year. Meanwhile all the ricer companys made some kick@ss fast cars while the US was sleeping and thinking about how to get more mpg.

an LS1 SS would beat a STI from a dig in a 1/4 mile, the STI runs 13.6, the 2002 SS runs 13.2, however from a roll the STI would wax the SS.

i dunno man, when that tubro is spooled up at a 40 roll its gonna hit its peak hp faster than the SS. But however you are right about the AWD, it does take away power in the "long run" and gives the car more weight.

not for a four banger, the STI weighs well over 3,000 lbs., not too much light than a standard LT1. The AWD gives it alot of its weight. Plus not to mention it is a sedan, so the 4 door feature is another. And not to mention it is quite roomy in the back of an STI, so that extra space plus the comfortable back seats is another contributor. it is alsoa fairly large v4, 2.5 liter if im not wrong, so yeah it is a fairly heavy car for what it is.
