So my friend got a 2000 Firebird with the 3800 series 2 V6 with 200 HP and 225 Tq and an auto trans. He thinks he can take me. Ive got an 88 with a 305 TBI, 5 speed, gutted cat, dynomax catback. My L03 only has 170 HP stock but 255 tq. Who would win in a quarter mile? Btw I can shift damn fast, so if its a drivers race then I got him. But let me know what you guys think.

I would say the firebird will win. You have the same trq numbers but he has 30HP on you. Acully he has alot more than that becuase his car is so much newer. then the fact that he weights alot less than you do. I would say he will win unless hes a horrible driver or is having a engine or transmition problem.

 

I got 255 tq. hes got 225. I got 30 on him in torque, I thought that may even the playing field and make it a drivers race in a quarter mile.

 

you do have the gutted cat thats good for lik three seconds in the quarter[sm=drooldude.gif]

 

ha yea i was hoping that gutted cat would give me the extra 30 HP toobut, to my suprise, it only made it sound a little better lol. Guess it only works on hondas.

Ok sry. But still, You could beat him. If conditions were right. hell I once heard a guy with a V6 camaro beat a SRT-10 viper. So it just depends. But in a fair heads up race, I would bet onn the firebird. the cars are really under estimated, and their numbers on paper dont really show what the car can do.

its probly gonna be the firebird as the winner but maybe not since he just got it you got a good chance if hes in overdrive and your in drive
