Ok so my buddy has a 96 mustang gt that he babies to all hell but has never put anything worthwhile under the hood. All he has done to it is throw an exhaust system on it and rims and tires. If i cant beat the 4.6 stock vs. my 3.8 stock, what are some affordable ways to make it a lot closer or even give me the W? So besides recommending me buying a v8, any input or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

95 Gt has only got you by 15 horse and its heaveir and several years older only place hes really got you is torque especially with bolt ons from a roll id say you can take him if you get a decent jump off the start

Ok, so i'm thinking about gettin the K&N Generation 2 Fuel Injection Performance Kit. Would this be recommended or is there another AI or filter I should be taking a look at? Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Flormaster or Magna flow exhuast will add about 11 HP to the wheels & give you a nice sound too. They both cost around $350 and you can install it yourself on a saterday afternoon. Dont ask which is better becuase its all a matter of opinion, they will both give you about the same thing.
A lid & K&N filter wouldnt hurt either. And if you want some more you can get some pacesetter headers which will give you a good boost in HP too. I wouldnt spray a stock motor, even if it can handle it. Its just not me, I think you should do basic bolt ons before you move on to a big power adder like a Camshaft or nitrous.
And about the race, I would go from a dig. You need to get a good luanch & get in front. Once your in front you just have to keep him off for a while. But make sure you get the jump off the line, that is your main advantage.

Dig is about your only hope and a good list of bolt on's cant hurt. The stang comes out at around 240HP stock. But it is the first year of the 4.6 and they where not the best year if im not mistaken. If you want to kill him for cheap go with nitrous and run a 75 wet shot and kill him.
