Default 97 LT1 into 94Z ???????

Ok so I blew the motor in my 94Z. I can get my hands on a LT1 out of a 97 SS. What would I have to change out if anything to put it into my 94Z??? Since the '97 is OBDII and the '94 is OBDI. Any help is greatly appreciated. Also I read that the '97 SS motor has 20 more stock HP than the 94 did is that true????? Thank you!!!!

should be a straight switch. you may have to use a couple of your sensors so check them out to see if the parts are the same. yes the 97 has improvements that bring the hp up about 30 or 35 but alot of it is from better exhaust.

won't the OBD switch cause problems??? And since when to '97 LT1s make 30-35 hp more than '93-'96 LT1s?

so you can use the vented opti but will need to change the opti harness.
and yes the 96 97 has some improvements in the fuel/air delvery and exhaust that give a tad better hp.
aha changed it. lol.

The 96 has a separate crank sensor too. But, why would he have to do all that changing over anyway? 96 & 97 have an additional crank sensor, with separate wires that lead to the computer (also different from the one in his 94). As far as I'm aware, the opti on the 97 engine will operate the same, meaning the crank sensor just won't get used.

Just continue using the 94 PCM and wiring harness and ignore the crank sensor, its only purpose is for misfire detection. The 94 PCM is not looking for it. No need to change front cover either. There may be some minor issues with connectors, but you should be able to sort them out.

If there are any issues with the opti connectors, just take a close look at both plug ends. Each wire has a corresponding number marked on the Metripack plugs. If you need to swap plugs (in case of a mis-match), all you need to do is match up 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4. Or if one of your plugs has letters instead of numbers, as was the case with my 92 Vette when I did an upgrade, then it's 1-A, 2-B, 3-C, 4-D.
