83 camaro what gen?

Are all 83 camaro's third gen? My uncle has one and he told me it was first gen but what i could pic up off this forum it would have to be a third gen?

Third Gen all the way. First Gen were 67, 68 and 69's.

It might be the first generation of the 83 Camaro produced that year maybe.

What does that mean?
Did the 83 go through some metamorphosis somewhere during it's production run?
