Now as always you guys can do pretty much whatever you want to in order to get votes. Add a more robust description and as many photos as you want. But don't go posting threads to vote for you in every section, that's got to stay in OT.

Voting ends at midnight central time on June 30st.

Good luck to you all, now lets get it on!

Best picture of the airbrushed flags I have. the sun has to hit it just right to really make them pop, otherwise they are hidden into the stripes.
Attachment 25621

And finally the airbrushed flames on the hood stinger. Also hard to see from a distance but add that personal touch for the cruises.
Attachment 25622

Oh, and how she started out as an e-bay find (kind of nice to see the starting point) :

bout time. :) now we need more votes.

That's a tough call between Taz and JG, and O's car is gonna be very nice when she's done.

I really like the modern amenities in Taz's car (btw, sharp interior) and the ghost flag is icing on the cake while JG does an excellent job representing that classic old school look. Really, both cars are in a class to themselves and both cars do a fantastic job representing the upper end of our hobby.

In the end I had to vote for TAZ. Not because he had a nicer car than JG, but because of how unique and stylish it is in bringing modern technology, comfort and horse power to a first gen shell.

Hey Stevebolts, thanks for the kind words. I agree, Taz's car looks like it could be at SEMA. I think Orocker's car is coming out really nice. BTW...tazhawaii and myself are both from NewEngland. I would say the northeast is being well represented this month. LOL

JG,
Wow, I didn't even realize you were from New England. :) That's awesome. Have to meet up at a cruise or show sometime (maybe Skip's). Going to a show in Portland, ME this weekend that the shop who did the body work will be at. They haven't seen my car complete yet, so I have to make it to this one.

All,
Thanks for all the kind words. I've had a mix of reaction at the local shows with it. about 95% have jaws drop. 3% say they normally don't like the pro-touring style but think it's tastefully done. and 2% just like pure original... The only problem now is that I get a little more nervous driving it than when it had a Cheap-o paint job on it before...

Tazin, your car is amazing looking. I did vote for JGs, as personally I'm not a fan of the air suspension look, and I'm really into classic overall cars. As it sits in the other pictures, it looks amazing. But man, you've done an incredible job on it.

This is a hard one. That LS3 is plain sexy.

I'm sorry.. that just leaves the wrong image in my head... :icon_shrug: In Detroit we have a radio station WRIF (Rock) and last week they had a guy on there that had a "thing" for cars and helicopters if you know what I mean... Sorry... Ya just never know who's out there anymore :icon_bike:

mr.blue 06-29-2011 12:25 PM

Well i dont know what kind of radio you're listening to lol but that just took it to a whole other level. I'm just saying, looks like a camaro, but has corvette motor and interior.

BenL07 06-29-2011 02:41 PM

omg i havent been on here in like a month but tazinhawaii wow that is one sick ride... how hard was it to get that z06 interior to fit?

tazinhawaii 06-29-2011 05:27 PM

The sex between a Corvette and a Camaro is the best analogy I've heard and I'm going to use that at the cruises.. :) The Z06 seats weren't too hard to get to work. It took some research to figure out how to get the power seat options to work, other than that, I didn't use the stock seat mounts. I reinforced the floor boards and bolted the Z06 seat sliders directly to the floor which also lowered the seats some. I do wish I went with regular Corvette seats vice the Z06 seats just because the passenger seat for the Z06 isn't power. But in general, those seats were orders of magnitude the best investment I made in the car. It's sooooo nice not slip sliding away in the seats going around corners. Plus much more leg room for me (NO legroom in the rear seat though, but the GTO rear seats don't help that cause either).

ha ha, yeah, That's WRIF, the Drew and Mike show out of Detroit... They get some pretty bizarre guests that's for sure. And no, it's not my normal radio station, I was cruising to another station and they were talking about cars, .... And I just couldn't believe what this guy was saying... Here's an article on him. He's not right.....

I know what you meant ha ha.

Taz, you sure you still want to use that analogy lol!

mr.blue 06-30-2011 10:33 AM

hahaha yea that dude was on some TLC show. i remember seeing the commercial. Some chick was also in love with a wall. ahh crazies.

And Taz, i cant believe you haven't thought of that already, that was the first thing that came to my mind. Maybe you should just hand over those keys. :)

StoveBolts 07-01-2011 08:56 AM

ha ha Mr. Blue! Yup, there def be some crazies out there lol!

Taz, where did you get your steering wheel? Also, what was the hardest part about wiring in the seats?

Thanks!
Jeff

greenarrow 07-01-2011 12:48 PM

Ok, this one is in the books people. Congrats to taz. Send me your acceptance speech and I'll get the tread up.

BEHOLD 07-03-2011 12:11 AM

Jeff,
I'm pretty sure I got the steering wheel from Summit. A bunch of vendors have it, but I think Summit was cheapest. And the hardest part of wiring the seat was trying to find a schematic of the seats. i happened to find a thread on the vette forums thaat talked about putting a power passenger seat in a Z06 that i was able to use to figure out the wiring. But it finally came down to just applying +12V and a ground to the right wires. Now, the air bags and seat heaters don't work, but I don't car about that...
