Default Restore the worst open class dirtbike. Why?

It's my 1981 honda Cr450.
Voted number 9 on there top 10 list of worst preforming dirtbikes... ever...

So why would anyone want to not only buy a dirtbike with little to no resale value and no aftermarket parts? My wife would say I'm dumb, but I guess I just like rooting for the under-dog. I bought the bike cheap about 2 years ago and have had a time fixing it up. Heres what I've done so far.

Swapped the front-end for a newer stile with a disk brake.

Swapped the rearend for one with a disk on the left. The stock hub brake was crap.

I pulled the magneto and advanced it a little to make the powerband not hit like a hammer.

Bought the cylinder and piston from an 83 cr480. The jug looks great, but the piston has a stress crack in it.

Any one know where I could get a new one?

Was the 450R a 4 speed, or 5 speed? I had an '83 CR480, and that was the first year for the 5 speed in the 480. I loved that bike so much, but broke up my knee pretty bad and had to sell it when I couldn't race anymore.
Looks like your 450 is in very good shape! I'd fix it up too if I could still ride!

Its a 4 speed. They only made the 2 stroke 450 for 1 year.... I cant wait to ride it. Even with a bad gasket on the base of the cylinder, it would not let the front wheel stay on the ground.

Those big bore two strokes are real thumpers! Tons of power and torque!
