'63 Falcon project

Here's my future project Chevy fans. A 1963 Falcon Futura. 6 cyl. with 3 speed. Very clean and rust free car that's been stored in a barn for the last 23 years. Only minor shopping cart dings, and original paint. The engine turns over, and supposedly runs, but it wil go away anyhow, so not important to me. Plan is to keep it a stick, but not sure about 4-5 or 6 speed trans yet.
Now here's the big change planned; it's getting a big block Chevy. Haven't located an engine yet, but I did get the top end today at the NWDRA swap meet. I picked up a pair of Edelbrock Performer oval port heads with 110cc chambers, 2.19/1.88 valves, Crower roller rockers, and a set of ARP stud kits for the head bolts. Also picked up a Weiand tunnel ram for twin carbs, and a Pete Jackson gear drive timing set. Got everything for $1,070 total! The heads alone sell for $2,000 at Summit, so I am pleased to get it all so reasonably.
Here's a few pics of the car. I'm busy doing a total home remodel, so I wont get much done on the car anytime soon.

Seems like a cool project can't wait for you to get started.

I had a 390 with a stick in mine with a straight axle. Good luck with it.

I've got a Econoline straight axle that's been totally rebuilt, and sitting in the shop since last year. It's probably going under the Falcon, as a BBC wont clear those shock towers, and that will free up space.
Can't go a Ford engine, as I've never messed with them, so gotta go Chevy. And I need a big block Chevy fix, so it's gotta be a big block too! Besides, it will tick the Ford guys off to see a Chevy in there! :)

Can't wait to see what happens with this one.

Hopefully not as much engine setback as the Austin! I do hope I can have a backseat on this one!

Got a lead on a 454 from a friend today. His dad has two running 454's and one short block. So going to see what kind of deal I can make on the best one and swap the Edelbrocks/tunnel ram on it.
Found a Super T10 also, but not sure I want to spring yet, as I'd still like a T56 for the overdrive gear.

You gonna cut the quarters for some good sized gasser tires? Looks like a mint body and the trim looks to be in great shape. Surprised I didn't run into you at the swap meet. I was there with gramps. Picked a few things as well.

Yes, the rear will get radiused, and old pie crust Hurst Cheater slicks will go on the back. Not sure yet on width. Either their 8" or 10" slicks. Not going too high with the stance, so it will have to be radiused.

Decent car. Since it's getting a big block, is the car going to be named "Rat Trap"? ;)
