Under 3 second 1/4 mile times.

This is the final run for Top Fuel last Sunday, July 26, 2008.
From the NHRA web site:
Tony Schumacher won the Top Fuel title at the Fram Autolite NHRA Nationals, beating No. 12 qualifier Hillary Will in the final, 3.886 to 3.988, to score his fifth win in the last six NHRA national events.

I guess the new Good Year slicks are really working. Forget about nitrous and turbochargers, nitromethane and big blowers seems the way to go. LOL

least they did better for the dragsters than good year did at the comptition caution 400 aka the brick yard

That old brickyard is tough on tires, those sharp banked turns put a hell of a load on them. Same thing happened when they ran the F1 cars on there, and the Michelin tires had the same problem. Then again the tires used for racing have no relation to those used for street cars.

If my math serves me correctly, shouldn't the title of this thread have been "Under 4 second 1/4 mile times?"

Not only that^^ but they are only racing to 1000 feet in the fuel classes right now.

Didn't realize they shortned the distance, no wonder they seem quicker. LOL

They just recently shortened the length for top fuel, right after the Scott Kalitta crash/death.

Too bad it takes a tragedy for them to make changes. I still think they should keep the stip at 1/4 mile but they should have had the extra protection at the end should a driver loose all control.
