V6 TURBO Questions
Anybody an expert on how much PSI a 2000 V6 3.8L can handle without having to modify the intake and injectors? I was guessing you'd be safe with 4 to 5 PSI, and anything more than that you'd have to do a little more engine work. Thanks in advance, I appreciate it.
I was hoping for 3-5 PSI. If I replaced the injectors, and then got a Reprogrammed PCM, do you think I could run 5 PSI? What else would I need to replace to achieve 5 PSI. Ultimatly, that is my goal. There are a couple other questions I have. 1) All of the rear mounted turbos I've seen, use metal piping all the way back up to the intake. I know STS does that, to eliminate the need for an intercooler, but can you use rubber hose (Like radiator) that has a proper thickness and diameter? and then run it through an intercooler in the front to eliminate the majority of the pipe fabrication? I just thought I'd throw that out there, I mean, the intake air isn't very hot, and the only reason I could see for running pipes that far would be to cool it, and maybe durability. 2) The second question I have regarding this topic, is they recommend Dyno tuning, what exactly is that. Can a normal dealership do that? Or do I need to take it to a specialty company? If I got the PCM reprogrammed for the turbo, would that be considered Dyno Tuning, since it's a PCM reprogram that takes into account other things like injectors, and turbo. Thanks Again. |
