super charged with nos

i have a race motor i got from a friend a while back and im starting to work on it. it has 12:1 pistons and im putting 8:1 pistons in it, later on down the road im planing on throwing on a roots style charger from weiand. the bottom end is built for this stuff i can assure you it can take abuse. but will i be able to run any nitrous like a 150 shot with all this?

engines a 79 350 bolck bored .30 over and block has been machined for a 400 crank, it has aluminum heads by trick flow with 64 cc chambers, full msd ignition, high flow oil pump, roller cam, roller lifters, and roller rockers, and on top it has a weiand tunnel ram with dual holley 600s. just wana know if ill blow the engine from boost and nos or will it be able to handle it?

You can get all the power you need with a supercharger without resorting to nitrous. However; I would recommend something more efficient than an old school roots blower. Newer designs, such as twin screw type supercharger (Whipple),are much more efficient and produce more power with less stresson the engine.

then i would need a blow through style carb or an efi setup right? but i kinda have a thing for the old school blower with the fat 3 inch belt and the whining sound it has. the engine the way it sits already has 600 crank horse. so getting a 100 to 150 hp gain isnt gonna upset me. i like the centrifugal style superchargers but the massive blower sticking its head out of my hood just screams dont mess with me.

The nitrus will actually work good with superchargers as it cools down the incoming air. Just don't let the fuel mixture lean out, and watch the rev counter.

thanks. i heard superchargers run fairly cool. but if i need to richen the mixture up top ill have someone who knows what they're doing to do it. but when i put in my 8:1 pistons im going to run it like that for a bit then put on the supercharger. cuz right now i dont even have close to enough money for one.

Roots blowers are OK up to around 10 PSI, then they really start heating air up. Because of the way they mount on the engine it is difficult to use intercoolers, so the usual trick is to cool them down with a very rich mixture, methanol or water fogging, or in you case nitrous.

cool. i guess meth injection would be a good way to do that. my boss wants to do meth with his wrx. he said it wont hurt your engine like nitrous can.
