Overheating???

Is it True that a supercharger may cause your engine to overheat?

RE: Overheating???

Depends on how long you stay on boost, and how much boost you are applying. To make more power requires more fuel. The more fuel you burn the more heat the cooling system has to get rid of. So you could overload your cooling system and overheat. The other thing to look at is to run high boost on pump requres that the spark be retarded in order to keep the engine in one piece. A retrded spark results in more heat because the fuel does not have time to comletely burnd in the combustion chamber where it is turned into power. The slill burning fuel now goeds out the exhaust and generates a lot of heat and no power, and also fries the exhaust valves on the way out.

On a 1/4 mile nitrous pass my motors will climb 20-30 degrees by the finish line. I never ran a blower but it would seem to me that it could increase the tempature easily as boost rises.
