What size turbo are you planing to run. Tons of guys are running twin 60s and even twin T72s on both LT1 and LS1 4th gens so i dont know why you would want to cut the hood to run one. There is tons of room up front between the motor and core support where most guys run theirs. You can move the radiator forward and more upright to make room for it. TTI also makes kits for the LT1 and LS1 along with a few other companies that keep the factory AC.

I ran a turbonetics T76 on the divers side of the car mounted under the power steering pump. The T76 was a very tight fit in there but before that i ran a 60 trim on a .96 A/R that fit with no problem.

How do you do a single turbo set up on a v8 without piping both exhaust manifolds?
Um like most single turbo diesel trucks, or any other single turbo V engine. You run a cross over pipe. Turbos work on pressure and your hot side piping does not have to be smooth or equal for a turbo system to be effective. Pressure will take the path of least resistance which will be out the compressor.

I would suggest heading over to LS1 tech and looking at the dozens of turbo builds over there to get a solid idea of what you are getting into. Rear mount turbo is going to be the cheapest route but expect to pay 3000 plus and that doesnt count support items or tuning. If your going to a front mount set up its going to get expensive. The cheap route is to use truck manifold and face them toward the front of the car. Then build your piping around that and mount the turbo up front which may require you to move the radiator forward or mount it in the battery location. Basically a remote mount set up. If you plan on running twins then your going to have real fun. Brake down and buy a used APS kit if you can find one around 5000 used.

Putting a turbo on our cars is not cheap look at my sig if you don't be leave me. Support items like (correct plugs, injectors, fuel pump, tuning, etc) will run you close to a grand easy.

My question is : would that be as doable as i think it is? And will it really make that much difference room wise?

What about oil supply for the turbo? Will it be affected?

Thanks alot
Ps: if you guys have any pics, that would be awesome! Cheers

Why are you trying to run a T76 to start with. I dont know what kind of motor you are running but a 62 would be a lot more responsive and is a little bit smaller if your worried about room. I am a big supporter of not running any more turbo then you need. This helps get the most out of your set up and too get the power to the ground faster. Running even a 72 on any thing other then a forged bottom end with a good set of heads and decent cam is going to be a waste of time.

A T76 can support over 700 horse power on our cars. I dont know if you have a LT or a LS but the LS1 which responds very well to boost and has a great PCM for tuning boost hits its limit in the high 400s. After that its just not going to live very long.

 who cares if it lives for long, i'm about done with the build, i went with the turbo mounted between the core and engine, lots of room there, i'm gonna have to run some different fans though, the only problem i encounterd was where to route the down pipe, so i made it exit just infront of the left front tire, there will be alot of right ear damage to ppl who race me but i can live with that 

Thanks alot for the pics and advice, i'm doing my project after seeing a couple of camaros here that have the same set up, but without the a/c both making 500+whp on bone stock engines, one for more than a year now....

Will not live very long. And when it goes its probably going to be the number 7 rod punching a hole in the block and probably taking every thing it can with it. To make 500 plus you need about 9 psi (this will very depending on mods and turbo of course) At that point you are pushing the pressure and hp limits of the stock bottom end. LS1 pistons do not like detonation and even if you plan on running good fuel or a secondary from of injection its still going to give at some point. Even faster if you drive the car daily.
