What is the best 3800 series motor to go with if your looking to boost
 

that i know of none unless you build the engine ,an for the price tag your better off to buy a z28 an there is something to work with ,the 3800 is a fun car ,but when people build them its couse they think they can or know they can,then there price tag runs into more then the price to just buy the v8,3800 v6 cars the threads the posts all over the forum,over an over unless you got big pockets ,enjoy the 3800 for what is it ,then save for z28 or ss

Is there a reason you think the Series 2 supercharged engine is better then the Series 3 SC engine? What information do you have on forged internals? I know the the SC versions have lower compression but stock all forged seems way overkill for a 40 hp gain.

Most people I have read about just use shock NA long blocks. Musicman went through the whole process of building a high end block and blew it up when the fly wheel came loose. From that point on he just got used stock motors. With a good tune the stock block can hold together for 2 seasons. The tune is absolutely critical to keep the stock block alive.

I assume you are planning a turbo build?

Build done right. You should read the whole thread but if you jump to page 12 there is a video of a junk yard turbo build dyno/tune. This same tuner kept a bone stock high miles 6.0 together over 1000hp.

I say go 235 stovebolt (3852cc). 7 mains, 6 throws, and solid lifters makes a good starting base. :D

That would be a fun install considering the height and length of the motor. I would bet it would be a good 12 inchs sticking out the hood in the front.
