Default Tuner car guy...

Hey, the name is Biff, I'm 27 and I want a first gen Camaro to be my muscle car.

I'm not a newbie in cars since I have a stock except for GReddy turbo 07 tC MT that gets to 60MPH in about 4.9secs and I have an 03 Corolla as my daily driver with a bunch of audio stuff and a "slush box" 4spd. (I did everything myself, except dyno tuning.)

Now I wan't to get into the Muscle Car scene by getting a good condition 1stgen Camaro for under 4grand and about 12grand worth of new parts and paint. I went to this forum to know more about the scene and want to know what's a good 0-60MPH with these things and what could I make of a Camaro with 12Gs...

Thanks!

It's my nickname, I suck at skateboarding and my friends dubbed me Biff back in junior high...

Enough of that, I'm here for tips on engine swaps and suspension upgrade!.

Alright then haha. Anyway, I'm not sure you can get a good 1st gen for that much. Might take a little more to get it all the way restored.

That's my first choice, but I could go with any Camaro as long as I could hit the 1/4 mile below 12secs...

(I hit 13.7secs 1/4s easy in my tC.)

well, what I suggest is for you to buy an LS1 camaro. They were made in the 98-02 Z28 & SS and look like the car in my sig, except with the SS you get a hood scoop & a better spoiler. It doesnt matter weather u get a Z28 or SS, both have the same LS1 and make the same power.

Stock they run low 13s, 13.3 is usally the most commen for a good driver. However there have been a few that have been known to sneak down into the 12s stock. The record for a completely stock LS1 was 12.8.

You could find a 98 or 99 in good condition for about 8-10 grand if you look enough. Take the extra cash and get some headers, exhuast & airlid. The get heads & cam and you will be making over 500 HP and could be running in the 11s.

So that will give you more speed than your looking for plus a great looking car with an awesome muscle car heritage.

Now back to what you could do to a 1st gen for 12 grand, hmmmm...

Hey man if you want to go with a first gen still its possibly atleast were i live to get an old drag camaro or a camaro with no engine tranny or interior for around 6 grand and you will have enough money to either get a crate 383 stroker orLS-1 swapand that would get you in you times but not the show look you may be looking for. But it never hurt to have a hot rod black car until you get enough money to finish the looks. I have13 grand in my 69 camaro and it still has no interior and its got the stock V8 307 with the 2spd powerglide. The reason mine cost so much was because every thing except the driveline is new
