So I have an '88 2.8L RS.... and the temp gauge reads 220 than jumps drastically in seconds! Its getting to the point to where i have to ride around with the heat on high just to keep the engine cooled enough to prevent overheating. I have recently changed the Rad. and flushed out the system earlier today but she is still spiking! Im not quite sure if its the temp gauge itself that needs to be replaced or if it could be something else. So i figured, before I go and spend more money on fixin something that may not need it, i would talk to my fellow camaro enthusiasts! so if anyone has some insight on this minor issue i would be grateful for any suggestions, opinions, or comments

 

Welcome to the forums. Might be the t-stat at the engine. Have you asked this in the generation section?
