Not sure how this will be received, but here goes... I'm a former mustang owner. There, I said it. lol I am now a proud Camaro owner! All I can say about the whole stang thing is 'what was I thinking'. Well, I recently won an ebay auction for a 1995 Green Z28. I thought the car just looked cute. I had no idea what I was in store for.

First off, let me just say that I beleive I was genetically destined to have a lead foot. Thats sort of the reason that I lost my mustang. Anyways, the listing for my camaro mentioned something about a 'desired 350 LT1 block engine' and 'smog legal headers'. I took that as it having a running engine that would pass smog. That's not too difficult to understand, right? OMG, I had no idea what that really meant! Can I just say, this is more car than I know what to do with. It totally blows my old 3.8 mustang out of the water! Not to mention a few GT's that have tried messing with me, too. Yep, that lead foot came in really handy those times. I absolutely love this car, even if it is 14 yrs old!

I can't wait to take a look around this forum. I am so clueless as to how to maintain this car (besides fluids). I am hoping you guys can teach me a few things.

hay welcome to the forum;
the key word is former.
theres more than one guy on here that owns both a stang and a camaro. lt1 is a great motor to play with. u need to learn whats on the car before u start adding. learn what has aleady been done with it. take some pictures and post em on here. some of the engine compartment maybe under the car, the guys will be able to tell if parts are stock or aftermarket. we all like pictures. i would recomend u get a dealer service manual for your yr car. makes life a lot easier.

Thanks craby! I only have the pics from the ebay listing for right now. I will try and take some more today. I have already found a good muffler man. He's a very nice guy, maybe I will see if he wouldn't mind putting it up in the air again so I can take some pics.

You guys want a good laugh? The reason I took it to the muffler guy was because I thought I had an exhaust leak. I am very familiar with those because I used to always crack my weld on my mustang (it had a borla half-cat). Turns out, there was barely a pin-hole leak but nothing that would have dimished the cars power like I had been experiencing. They pressure tested the cat, banged on the exhaust pipes, checked the hangers, yadda yadda. Everything checked out fine. BTW, his assistant just so happened to have owned the exact same car years ago, even down to the color but w/out headers. He knew the specs on my car like the back of his hand. Long story short, this is a woman for you, I was driving in the wrong gear the whole time! Yep, I felt so dumb. However, it totally was not my fault. The owner's manual said that for normal driving, the shifter should be on the 'OD' (the D with a circle around it). I could also drive in 'D' but would get less gas mileage. The assistant told me that he always drove in the D position and never had any problems. Well, it has made all the difference in the world even though I only get 200 miles to the tank. Oh well, it sounds awesome so I don't care. lol

I bought a Haynes manual but it covers so many models, most of the pics don't look like my engine compartment. Its a little frustrating. I did, however, manage to download a program from GM (GM Techline eSI) a while back for a friend. But I think I am biting off more than I can chew if I were to try to use it.

Welcome SoCal gal, glad to have you here. All I can see that's aftermarket so far is the headers and the looks like a K&N Cold Air Induction (CAI), well looks like a K&N from what I can see. Nice color BTW.

very nice car. i can tell u have a cold air intake from the one picture. thats a add on that goes good with the headers. if its running ok u shouldnt have to use drive. ive always used od on mine, and yes it is there for regular driving and u were not being dumb, u were right to begain with. the factory service manual for your yr is fairly spendy but this will show u what u should get. then u can do some searching if u like. it may be all ull need is exhaust from the cats back and then u can look at things to make it look unnique to your taste. enjoy your new car and see u on the forum.

driving in D or OD wont make a difference. D just locks out 4th gear, but doesnt change shift points i dont think.

welcome to the forum. nice catch on that car
