I did burnouts with my camaro all the time, and it never hurt anything, well once it fried the waterpump, but that wasn't that big of a deal.

I had that ticking sound after doing some burnouts also.I put oil in it and it has been fine ever since.That was about four months ago.I recommend an oil change.

Even though this thread might be dead, I'm enjoying the convo about burnouts. I still haven't done one with my camaro yet, but I have considered it from time to time. I haven't really wanted to. Everytime I accelerate quickly I feel bad and ease off. I love this car too much to beat it up. But when I get in my mom's buick lesabre, I'm fast and furious. It's weird that I drive my red sports car like a grandma, and drive a grandma car like a red sports car....

When you're doing burn outs, you are cutting off air circulation to the radiator and this will tend to heat up your coolant. Either way that was not healthy for your motor.
