Why would I need more than 425HP...simply because it is not enough and I know I can have more. I was looking for a price on that 572 that puts out 600HP and almost 800flbs of torque. What do you think of putting a super charger on a 454?. And would an aluminum block be better or which ports, oval, rectangle, I'm thinking oval but don't know. If I do get the 454...I will be playing with the block as soon as I get it, so I think no matter which way I go it might be closer to $10,000. Oh so many ideas but I am still waiting for stupid Summit for my mags[:@][:@][:@], but I have Jeggs to tie me over for now.

Aluminum would be better...but 3 times the price...oval ports would be better for street and strip...they give you a little more bottom end and throttle responce...and most of the time you get a faster 1/4 time...rec ports are good if you want a strip only, and plan to use spray.....You can put a S/C on a 454 and get 7 to 800 hp out of it if you have the money...a 572 runs around 12k....a merlin 540 is about 10k and 640hp.....now you say you want more then 425...and 600...what is the most power you have driven...I mean real world..and not the guy with the magic 600 hp 305 with an air cleaner and headers....if you think your 190hp iroc was a beast,try driving a 450= hp car that does what it wants and not what you want it to....there are tons of things needed for a car to drive with the extra power.

The Iroc was only a beast because it was tough, not fast. The HP from it is SAD that's why I am looking. I will deffinitly not be using spray, that's not real power to me. There are 2 454's in the Jeg's mag, which is better?, 1st one is HO $5199 and 425HPrec ports, and the "world" is 454HP DD street for $7719. I'm REALLY diggin' the 572 Hard Core Street Engine with 695HP but $12,499...SO... Is the $7300 difference worth the 270HP?.

The 572 hard core is a methinol engine...the better of the 2 is the merlin bigblocks....it would still be cheaper to get a shortblock with forged internals and build your top end from there...save a few grand...or get the GM ZZ454..it is an aluminum head version of the ho.

DAMN IT, I wanted the Hard Core one...I was looking at the short block and goods but it would cost me more to build it than a crate. I didn't see the ZZ454 in the Jegs mag. I'm sure that a 454 will fit, there is a fair bit of room there, isn't the engine bay as big as the 70's or close to it?. I really want to put the 572 in but..it's meth[>:][>:][>:]

Probably but it will be more than worth it. When I hit the pedal, I will actually go somewhere. I just want to drive the damn thing again, but this time it will be worth it and I will actually have something to brag about. Before it was just "...I have an Iroc" and they all sighed and wished.
