one owner 67 RS

My Dad went from Buicks in the 40's to Olds in the 50's then he totally surprised his young son (me) by getting a Triumph TR3!!! Great fun was had in that car, however then he fell off the edge of the earth when he got an Amphicar!! I know they have a following today but it was a disaster as a car and an even worse boat!! I was embarrassed to be seen it!
However then he totally redeemed himself by ordering a Camaro in the fall of 66. I tried to talk him into the 327 275 motor but since it was going to be owned by the company he ran it had to use regular gas so it was the 210 327 he ordered, I did manage to convince him to order the low restriction exhaust which at least made it sound like it was going fast.
I had no input on the rest of the specs but here's what he ordered: RS convertible, Royal Plum with a white top and interior, 4 speed, PS, Power drum brakes, power top, AC, posi traction, the aforementioned exhaust and I am not sure what else. VA DMV messed up and registered it as a 66 Camaro as it arrived in November of 66 and that is still how it is registered today! I got my drivers license in that car and Dad did let me drive it from time to time. It was never a high performer because of how heavy it was but sure looked and sounded cool. He moved on to Jags in the 70s but we always kept the car. The sales manager drove it in 70s then we fixed it up to use in parades and special events in the 80s into the 90s. Then it sat for a bunch of years and a couple of years ago a good friend restored it for us so its still cruising, looking better than new!!
