Default newbe / 2000 v6

new to the site thanks for having me. i'm buying a 2000 v6 for $1500. it's really clean and looks awesome.. it needs a short block, but all new from cam up. so the plan is to buy a new short block and i'll do all the work myself. then drive it for a while.. I have a 700hp 468 laying around so I'm sure it will work it's way in there some day. did I make a good purchase? I'm thinking in stock form it's a 4-5000 dollar car..

I can get a short block and gaskets for about $1000 so ill have $2500 in it plus my time. im good with that for now. ill drive it around for a while like that. after building a few race cars from scratch, I know a lil about what it's going to take to handle the power im going to run.. trans / 9'' rear / mini or huge tubs / cage / I'm building a 615 ci for the race car and ill use the current 468 in the Camaro with a turbo 350 trans. prolly go with tubular k member kit up front. I can build the 9'' but not sure yet what suspention i'll have to use. not a sleeper for sure. just the sound of 700hp will turn a few heads. you know something to drive down to sonic to get a coke..

There is a lot of good info over in the V6 4th gen section. Just out the replacement V6 threads. You can find low miles replacement motors that are a little better then your current SII engine. Manual are in the manual section and if you new to the 4th gen make sure you research how to pull the motor.

Good luck

what i meen buy sleeper is the guys who choose to go with 5.3 lsx an keep the stock exhaust an most everything else stock an have a car they will beat a 3800 each time an more or lt1 ,can get a lot of hp no one knows its there ,good luck with that its a challenging build ? 468 Is sbc right not a big block ,theres one guy who has been doing a 383 swap for awhile ,if you have done it before then you should be ok ,better off to find an 70 to 92 roller for 468 asuming its carbed those are high powered engines ,is that a 454 bored out ,after having done mine ,I kinda wish I had choose a 70 to 92 roller theres just a lot more room under the hood longer most can fit big blocks an just better compatability
