new owner of a 98 camaro
Hello all,
I just retired from the Army and moved from Hawaii to Florida. One hot place to another. My luck huh? The Army would only let me move one vehicle on their dime, so I had to sell my 95 Jeep Cherokee Sport. So that made me without a ride for a few months once we arrived to Florida. I couldn't keep driving my wifes ride to find work. She needed one to drive the kid around. Anyway, I saw this Camaro sitting on the side of the rode, I called the dude up, and as soon as I started it up and I heard the motor, I was hooked. I think I deserve something cool to drive after my gig in the army. So I bought it.
I am here now to glean any information from all you camaro junkies. I've liked what I read and most of the info is straight common sense, but others are trial and error. I want to save me the trial and error and get things done the right way.
Any advice on what I can do with this thing?
98 Chevy Camaro
Manual 5 speed
3800 Series II V6 engine
White with blue trim
Standard rims (they look it)
Exhaust is loud ( or is that something else? They look new) and i think the cat is rattling under there. It makes a noise when I start to speed.
I'll post some pics after work tomorrow.
Also, are there car clubs around the West Palm Beach area that you can recommend? Preferably Camaros.
It was great hollarin at yas! Holla back!

How come the Retired guys of 40 years as so detailed like you are with your car? That sure sounds like a fast car Ron. Keep it up! I hope to enjoy my ride as much as you are.

ED:
In 70 I wanted a Z28 but they were worth $5,300 too much for me so I bought a 72 340 Magnum RS Challenger in the summer of 71 for $3,800 that rotted out in 2 Years. I bought this car around 79 for $1,600 but it had a L78 396 in it out of a 65 I would guess - Since it did not have the original 350 LT1 I did a fast rebuild on a 454 out of a 71 Laguna El Camino. This was my first BB and I was very impressed; although, the engine was rather slippery. I got married and Parked the car. Now 20 years later I'm seperated and spent the last 2 years Restoring it. Life goes on - LOL
