New and looking to buy a camaro
Hi I am brand new to the forum and looking at buying a Camaro here soon. I have extremely specific taste and am looking for a used 2016/2017 Camaro SS, likely a 1SS, automatic transmission. I like the 1LE body, but am not interested in a manual. Drove them for years....not having it anymore. I feel like the 2016 is really the best bargain as you can find them used for a reasonable price (~$25k) and they have a bit more power and are a couple hundred pounds lighter than the 2015 (5th gen). I have always been a Japanese car guy but cant resist a V8 anymore especially when the 6th gen Camaro is weighting in at only ~3700 pounds.
I was hoping people can help provide me some input on buying one used. What things to look for and consider when buying? What is the reliability like for these cars? etc. Are there years that have more issues than others? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You are a very savvy and correct shopper to consider a 2016. This is 4 years after the new 2020 coming out most 2016 their leases are coming to an end. The Chevy small block is hard to hurt and as long as the car had no accidents or water damage you're good so get the carfax and enjoy a car that is practically brand new without the new car payment.

What do you think about the 8 speed auto transmission? I assumed the motor and trans were good as I believe it is shared with the Corvette stingray. Before making a purchase I am looking into reliability and am concerned about the transmission. I have been reading a lot about transmission issues with the 2016/2017, etc., 8-speed automatic. Apparently a bad torque converter that slips? I am also concerned after hearing many owners confirm Chevy's bull**** band aid fix in which they keep swapping transmission fluids saying that is the culprit. I am no mechanic but I know a lie when I hear one. What year Camaro do you have and is it an automatic? If so, any issues?
