Hey all. So we picked us up a 1995 with the 3.4L and T5 manual And TTops a few months ago for $700. Drove the car twice and it spun a rod bearing. Did a complete engine overhaul and did some things to change up the 3.4L. Yeah I know *thunk “coulda had a v8” but anyway. This has been a father son project (mainly me he’s 12 right now) as this is still a WIP this will be taken to shows and events in our area and be a fun car to cruise around in. No we were not looking to making insane power, just enough to have a little fun. Here is a list of what we’ve done so far.

Bored .020 over (had scoring got rid of it)
new crank, rods, pistons etc
CompCams 212/212 .44 lift cam
1.6 magnum roller tip rockers, springs to match
Pace setter headers
cat, egr, abs deletes
line lock
larger injectors
Complete welded exhaust to a flowmaster 40 split tipped

so far we have gotten everything running decent
pros
sounds mean and lopes at idle
Runs fairly well, however we need a tune...

cons
it ate the first camshaft
new camshaft is good, however I still have some valve train noise...
needs the computer tuned
needs some suspension work and minor body work

this is an OBD1 computer with the OBD2 connector
(OBD 1.5)

I have bought tuner CATS with the profile so I can tinker, I have no idea where to start yet but have been doing research.

here’s a few pics and I will try and attach a video of it idling.

link to video if it’ll work. Otherwise I will add a better one tomorrow.

Nice project for both of you. Nice idle.
Suggestion: always run a can of GM's EOS when breaking in a camshaft. Never hurts.

Thank you. We ran a 16oz bottle of Lucas break in with zinc on both installs. First cam we broke in at 1800rpm for 20 mins per machine shop. Second cam we did 2200-2500rpm for 30 mins per CompCams.

I have almost 200 miles on the build, 100 miles on each cam. We broke in on 10w30 during cam break in and these first 200 miles and next week we will probably do another oil change and start running the Valvoline racing 20w50 with Zinc and Lucas oil stabilized from here out.

The kids are always wanting to go for a ride in it.
