Default New camaro owner from St. Joseph Missouri

Hi everybody, I'm a very proud owner of a 98 v6 camaro. I have spent several hours reading threads from here and finally decided to create and account. I know this is my introduction but if somebody from the St. Joseph/Kansas City area has a shop and would tear down my engine and rebuild it with me please post here or send me a PM. I have had my camaro for about 2 months but the guy that had it before me didn't tell me much about it, so I would like to have somebody that knows what they are doing tear it down and make sure everything is in tip top shape, so just post how far away you live/work and post your price for the rebuild and I will get in touch with you! I'm only 18 and I don't know too much about cars, I know enough to get by maintenance wise (oil change, breaks, etc) but when it comes to internal work, I could use a lesson or two. I don't think of myself as a cocky person, or rude in any way, and anybody that knows me will say the same so I hope that I will fit in around here because so far just from what I have been reading, you guys seem like a good bunch of people with a lot of knowledge, especially Massey, I really like reading his posts because he seems to know a lot about what he is talking about and is (from what I have seen) nice when he posts.

Also just from watching a few videos I have noticed that the idle of my car sounds alot like those which are cam'ed, but the previous owner said nothing of an aftermarket camshaft. I don't have any vacuum leaks (had it checked with a smoke machine) and all my sensors are good. So if you guys have any advice on that issue please feel free to post it. I don't want to ramble too much so I'll just go ahead and wrap this up, but if you are close to me, please please post or let me know in some way, I have a lot of questions but I don't want to bombard you guys with them. But yea like I said I'm 18 and my first car is my camaro.

Welcome to the forum, post up some pics of the car when you can. I can't say that I know anyone on the forum off the top of my head that lives close to you that could help you out. There should be some good shops around that could help you out, although they would probably be a little higher than you were expecting.
