Hey every one , new here and saying hello.

Im looking at a 97 Camaro ss on craigs list, the car has 140k on the lt1
supposedly has had the head gaskets replaced and the heads machined.
I believe its an auto and the trans was rebuilt last spring.
It does need a few things done to it , the guy said it will need a starter soon as the one in it is getting weak, also it will need a wheel bearing or ball joint ( he isn't sure ) front drivers side and also the paint is fading on the hood ( likely clear is pealing off cant tell from the pic.).
Other than that he said it is in good shape every thing works including air conditioning. It has t tops and the alloy star wheels new tires yada yada ..
What I want to know is ( since I have mostly been a mustang guy ) what are some things to look closely at on these cars? And is it going to cost me an arm and a leg to do the starter and ball joint or wheel bearing. I will do the labor my self and painting the hood is an easy task as I have a make shift paint booth in the garage any ways.
I have not gone to look at the car yet just found it tonight , but in the morning Im gonna meet up with him and check it out,,, Common areas that rust?? different things like that.
I talked him down from $3,700 to $3,200 , does it sound like a decent buy?
Mind you I am pretty handy with a wrench and am quiet capable of doing most any repairs .
Also What should I look at to be sure it is a true ss and not a z28 in disguise

Welcome to the Club.
On the RPO decal (Regular Production Order) on the drvr door, it will have the VIN and RPO option codes, what options installed.
Look for Z28 and if an SS, also look for WU8 inclusive.
