Hi! I am new to the Camaro World...
I was driving my daughter to school and my camaro went dead. When i cranked it up it was blowing white smoke like a fogger. I left it and came home to read here what I should do. It will be towed in this evening.
It has caramel on the dipstick and the oil cap and the coolant feels greasy. Most likely what I am reading says I have a blown head gasket. So, If you were gonna keep this car, and had to do this job, what is the best advice on how and what mods would you do while in there? If any? and is there any possible way it is anything other that a Headgasket? I plan to start tearing it down this week.
it is a 96 v6 with 147k miles...money green with ttops, and I really think its a keeper...I do not want to spend a ton of money on it, but while I am taking half the car apart as it appears I would like to hear from the Camaro fans what is best. It is all stock and I have only had it a few months. Thanks so much in advance for your help...As a camaro rookie I am asking experts exactly what would you do while doing this cause I am gonna do what you advise...

I also still wonder even after reading is there any mods I can do while in there that are not gonna empty my car account? i would like to do it while I am there. Thanks !

Welcome aboard and good luck with the repairs! I just joined up myself and have found a wealth of information on this forum as far as the 4th gen's with the v6. Just go with what greenarrow said and browse around the v6 tech section of the 4th gen area.

Thanks Guys!
Thanks Green Arrow! I did search it some more and feel kind of dumb for asking again. LOL! But hey, what do you expect from a 38 year old who is used to driving Town cars and Sevilles? I brought her in today, pulled the hood and a lot of other stuff out of the way. Will purchase a manual in the AM and in my spare time start removing the rest. Looking at adding some stuff along the way. Thanks for the help and info! Will see you all around!

There's a build thread by musicman, he's done some cool stuff to his v6. Here's some basic info. from him: https://camaroforums.com/forum/showt...light=musicman
Just keep looking and post up a new thread in the 4th gen tech section/v6 if you can't find anything on it.

Milkshake oil is not a good sign. If you are on a budget you should be looking for a used motor. Head over to the 4th gen V6 section, Start a thread there. Check out the link in my sig to see what you are in for.

Gorn?
Gorn?
Now you have me concerned. A little anyway. Are you saying if my dipstick and oil cap looks like a caramel latte' that I may be in for lots more than a blown head gasket? If so, I will look for a used motor and pull this one. I have already started tearing all the bolt on stuff off from the top. So...give me the good bad and ugly, I can take it. And my car looks exactly like your 96. Green and all except I have a auto transmission. Thanks again...
