Over the last couple of weeks I have spent way too much time figuring out the VATS thing. I get the whole idea of how to bypass thewire and I get the whole 15 code thing but where do you get 30 hertz resistors? I tried Radio Shack but they measure their resistors in Watts and not Hertz.

Resistors are not rated in Hertz except for special high frequency resistors. 30 Hz is extremely low frequency and all resistors will handle this. You should only be concerned with the value in ohms. Since it is only sensed by the VATS decoder module, wattage is probably not important. You could measure the voltage across the resistor and calculate the wattage. Just pick aphysical sizethat suits your use. More information can be found at:

Thanks bud, I'll work on building some resistors in the right OHM range and hope for the best. The only thing that bothers me is why do the articles make such a big deal about 30hertz versus 50hertz for the later models?

Welcome, I have an 87 5.7. I'm skipping all the headache and dropping a 454 in it.
