Help needed to identify Subframe

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this forum and need help to identify the front subframe on my 53 Belair. My dream car has always been a 1969 Camaro, but for now it’s a Camaro subframe and drive train (I have been told) on my 53 Belair. I need to confirmation that the subframe is from a Camaro and from what year so I can start upgrading the parts. The WMS to WMS distance is approximately 61". Thanks in advance for your response

I believe that is a second gen sub frame (70-81), it is the forward steering system. I can not tell you what year or if there is changes through out the whole second gen run.

FYI the second gen sub frame is considered the better of the two. Back in the 70's and 80's a common "upgrade" to the 1st gen camaro was to install a 2nd gen sub frame. Now if you want your 30k 1st gen to handle better you just go aftermarket.

Agree with Gorn, 70-81 frame as this is the most used frame because of front steering as said, allowing a larger oil pan, and two because of disc brakes by OE design.
you might visit other sites, in finding year differences, but I don't believe many changes were incorporated.
