Default Greetings from NW Minnesota

Hello,

I've been looking for a good community that can offer honest and valuable feedback. 2nd and 3rd gen Camaros have always been a favorite of mine, and right now I'm looking to gather as much information I can before I make any decision on pulling the trigger to buy one. With the prices I'm finding, 4th gen vettes are looking even more economical for a potential project

Regarding camaros: 2nd gens are in rough shape where I live, so I've been eying the 3rd gens. Ideally, in a 3rd gen, I'd like to pick up a car that would be a good platform to swap out the engine for an LSx (LS3 crate in particular), and bolt a TKO to it. I've come to the forums looking for information to find out what may be the better platform to start out with: IROC-Z with a 305 and T5, or with the 350 and 700R4/4L60. As far as I know from what research I've done, the obvious differences are engine/tranny combo (as well as fuel delivery).

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to go further into details with what I want for a final product, but I figured this would be a great place to start. If you guys would like me to continue with more information in another thread, please respond with that note. Also, if anyone has advice for utilizing the search function with this forum software, I am up for learning that too (some searches work better when your inputs are more vague).

-------------------

Info on me: used to wrench on cars, but now am in the electronics industry. I still love cars/trucks, I just no longer work on them for a living. Metal music is my fancy, I love racing (sports car/prototypes/nascar and more), and I'm also a home brewer (so to those of you who will get this: RDWHAHB!)

I look forward to feedback. Cheers!

I think this is where I bow and take my leave. I found a car, and I bought it. Unfortunately, the particular car is not what this forum is dedicated to. Time to hop on the "saddle" and part ways.

Adios!
