Default First car

Hey guys!
I recently just got my first car, a white '96 z28
My dad and I shopped around for a while, originally looking for a g-body to drop our b-body lt1 into.
Well, I found this Camaro on craigslist for $2500 and we bought it because it was in good shape externally, while it needed some engine work.
He and I work on her after school and he teaches me things about cars.

So far, we've fixxd up the interior (new headliner, debating on new seats). I'm hoping to find some direction on that here.

We're getting ready to pull the motor to cam it as well as have it bored out to a 355.

Well, anyway, I'm here to learn about cars and just do whatever it is you guys do. I promise not to act like I know about things I know nothing about.

When we got it:

Now: (sorry, a little dark)

Not sure on what cam is going in it. Any suggestions?
He said that he wants to go with the Comp Cams kit, and I had no idea that they made a kit.
To my knowledge, the only "kit" was the GM "Hot Cam" Kit?

We want something that has a good balance of street-ability and power.

Oh boy, I look forward soooo much to getting 14 MPG

Also:
That was last week before we got started on it.

Now it's sitting on jack stands and we're taking the wheels to my dad's buddy to get sandblasted. Then off to my buddies to be powder coated black. I think Wednesday he is going to show me how to remove the calipers and have me paint them red.

Here is a whole slew of images.
Also, I was informed by the previous owners that it may have the police interceptor package. How would I know?

Currently on jack stands

Old Headliner. I'll get in the car tomorrow to post pictures of the new one.
Ohhh boy was that a freaking ***** to put in!

Headers are a little rusty. Not sure what to do about these. My dad wanted to put header wrap on them, but I was informed that this may damage the headers or make their rust worst.

Previous owner put this system in it. And it already came with the Bose system, so I'm pretty stoked about that. I love me some good music.

When we got it the entire rear clip looked like that. "Brake dust" sat on the car in some guys yard for a year and wouldn't buff out.
One of our buddies has a detailing shop and so he recommended a "Clay bar" and that fixed it right up!

a little bit left on the hatch in the letters, oh well.

So, lastly, we have one of my favorite parts about the car

No power windows or locks!
But hey, at least my horn works
My sister drives an 03 grand am with a faulty horn.
My dad hates that stupid car haha. The headlights on it suck

you would a B4C code in the RPO list. In the glove box.

Don't do black wheels, IMO black on white looks horrible. white on white would look better IMO.
