First Camaro
Hey all, I'm very excited to start this journey and I'm going to need all the help i can get.
Firstly, I want to get anything in the second generation, preferably years 78-80. I have a 5k starting budget (meant solely for purchase).
I want to make sure I make every correct decision, starting from where I should buy one. Where could I generally get the best value for my dollar? So far I only know of craiglist (I'm in the south florida area, Miami). I'm aware that it is a matter of taking a knowledgeable mechanic and individually inspecting every camaro, but I want to know if there are any other places (online or in person) where I could start my search.
I'm shooting for something that at least runs. Not necessarily looking for a full restoration project.
Also, what should I expect in the 5k range, what major flaws should I look out for? What should I not compromise on? Every little bit of advice helps.
Thank you kindly for reading. I hope you have a great day!

Rust is going to be your biggest enemy so watch out for that. Craigslist is a good place to start. If you shop around you can find good deals. For 5k you should be able to find a decent driver at least you can around here. Good luck

On a car that old rust can be a problem anywhere but he 2nd gens are prone to door sag and this will casue water leaks so rusted out floors where common in the 80's. Many of todays 2nd gens have patchs on patchs that cover up patchs. All that under 1/4 of undercoating
