Hi,
I have looked at 67-69 Camaros and noted the scary prices! Perhaps you could put me right on what is meant by 'clone' in some advertisements and descriptions.

Many thanks
clone means that originally it wasnt a "SS", meaning if you researched the VIN number, it would NOT say "SS". it doesnt just apply to SSs though, i've seen 3000GT "VR4" clones and what not too.

usually a, let's say a SS clone, has everything in it and on it, a original SS would have.

if you're looking for a performance car, i'd seriously suggest looking into a 98-02 LS1 Camaro or Trans-Am.

if this: http://www.khturbo.net/images/TTIROC...o@Wedding1.jpg , is the body style you're looking for, it's 82-92. i'd stick to 86-92s

if ^^^ is the body style you're looking for, it's 72(i think) through 81. 70's and 71 are a little different in the front end.

I meant to quote ninetysixyenko in my last message.

70-73 camaros have the rounded tail lights...full metal bumpers. The 74-77 lool similar to the 78-81 but they have metal bumpers and the tail lights are a bit different. The 78-81 have full plastic nose and bumper.

Well!, thank you all for your interesting comments. I am still unsure what it is I want!(typical) but I think its between a late 2nd generation,1980 or 3rd generation,1992...What does seem apparent to me is that the colour of the car has a bearing on its desirability, I have a leaning towards light coloured paint, white(then to make life difficult I quite like the purple colour!) I am not looking forhigh performance, if I wanted that I'd probablybe looking for a Porsche or a Jag. What I want is something that is aesthetically pleasing to my eye and I can enjoy the exhaust note of a big engine. I am hitting 70 next year and am no longer "a boy racer"! People buy cars for all sorts of reasons, the foregoing are mine.

honestly, for a good looking, nice sounding, depenedable car, i would go with a late model 4th generation LS1. but if the angular body style is what you like, go for it! if you go for the 3rd generation, i'd stick to a 5.7 350, not a 5.0 305. the only hard part about the 2nd generations, is it's hard to find one in good condition and that hasn't been beat on. good luck though! try www.craigslist.com and www.autotrader.com !
