Another New Member From Australia
 

Hello All,
Yes another new member from Down under. After many years of playing with Harley's and dealing with accidents; I decided to get back into cars. This is my 78, it's running a healthy stock 350 out of a 76 pickup (010 block) but have a set of edelbrock heads & manifold, roller rockers, 268 comp cam and a 600 Holley all waiting to be bolted on. Upholstered the seat myself using a set of PUI black velour covers, Have waiting to be fitted a new dash pads as well as new interior plus new energy bush kit, new close ratio steering box and all new steering bits.The car has always been intended to be a driver and not a show car and that's the way I like it.
I look forward to learning a bit from you guys and enjoy the company.

Welcome aboard mate,I'm with ya on it being a driver,that's what my cars have always been,no use for show cars unless I get rich someday with a big lottery win.
Great looking car you have there,love the classic wheels and tires,hate the tall wheels and rubber-bands a lot of guys run these days.
Long time Harley guy here too,still riding although not as often,partly age and not wanting to ride in foul weather (I'm 62 and my bones ache when I get cold) and partly
because I changed careers in the late 2000's during our great recession and now drive truck 50-60 hours a week if not more at times.
At any rate I'm somewhere near a one million mile rider with the last 35 years being all on H-D's,here's my one owner 2000 Electra with 197,000 miles on the clock.

Speaking of older classics,I also have this old '74 Ironhead ,I don't ride it much but it belonged to a friend who passed and his widow kind of wanted me to have it.
It was sitting for 16 years as he had moved on to newer stuff,I bought it pretty cheap but knowing I'd be in it more than selling price when I got it back up.
He bought it not long after getting back from Nam,when we first met back in '85 (co-worker) I had a '75 Iron and we did a lot of ridding together on those old rattle traps. lol
It's more memorabilia for me than useful machine but it is fun to take a spin on once it a while and confuse myself with right side shifting heh heh.
Those old gear drive 4 cams and solid lifters are a symphony if clatter.:icon_lol:

That's seriously cool. here are 2 shovels I just sold. The 79 had an 88 cube S&S motor. The twin cam was the one i had the accident on.

Damn those are nice,nothing sounds as cool as a Shovel IMHO.
Knucks and Pans are sweet but those Shovels just make the best sounds of them all.
That Camaro ought to sound pretty sweet too once you get the heads intake cam and associated bits installed.

Yeah I have a soft spot for Shovels and Iron head sporties. Mind you I do love Evo's & Twin Cams as well.

Ditto,I've owned quite a few bikes over the years,I think my all time favorite was an early Evo (early 1984) FXRS Lowglide.
I put well over 100,000 miles on that one,sold it to get out from under payments on the 2000 FLHTC and regret having done so.
I had it and an 1989 FLHTCU,traded in the '89 FL but kept the FX for a few more years,should have never let it go,fit like a glove.
That bike was also as reliable as a Timex watch,never failed me.

Great old shot. If I didn't have my accident I would have bought the fist year of the evo softail 1984 FXST. My dream was to have a Shovel, Evo & Twin cam so I had 3 generations of engines.
Like with your story I had a 96 wideglide that I should never have got rid of. Had it for years.Evo's are probably the best Harley motor ever in my opinion.
