Default Ah, to be 16 again!

I'm currently trying to get my 16 year old nephew into a 2000 V6, 5spd Camaro. I've been without my Iroc for many years, but my brother-in-law (his father) still has his 1987 Iroc convertible that he bought new. I attached a pic of my first love, it was an '85 silver Iroc, 5.0liter, 5 spd, with the special collection interior that had Camaro embroidered down each panel on the front seats. It was my baby, and despite all of my parents friends stating they just signed my death warrant, I went many years accident and ticket free!!! I had a winter beater S-10 Blazer back then, so the argument now is whether he can survive the weak winters we've been having lately on good winter tires, or can they/will they swing for a winter beater also.

If anyone out there has any input to help my argument I would appreciate it.

Hope you enjoy the pic from 1991...I have it in a 20" x 24" frame right above my computer...my wife hates it...oh well.

Thanks.

Drove my 94 Z28 for many winters through NY snow & ice with regular tires and no problems or accidents. It is doable but you really have to work at it. Keep good thread on the tires, ABS is life saver, especially when you hit black ice.Learn to take off by just idling away. Positraction is a real horror, with both back wheels on slippery surface, both wheels slip and the back of the car slides sideways no matter what you do. Keep a steady speed through snow. Too slow you get stuck, to fast you get stuck, but deeper in. 30-35 MPH seems to work best in snow up to 4", more than that, park the car till the plows get finished. Go slow in the turns as the car will want to keep going straight ahead, you can always give it a little gas and the rear will come around, but if you over do it, it will make a 180 or a 360.

Are the Blizzak tires the best option or are better tires out there?
