Ok here's the deal i just bought an 84 camaro t top from my brother

start with a full exhaust, maybe a cam, rockers and springs, port and polish on the heads, and a valve job that should get you in the 300 range

Welcome to the forum. Post up some pics.
Easiest way is to pull your current engine, buy a turn key crate engine with about 350-400 HP and you should get 300 to the RW. Slower route is to build the 350 that's already in it, but if you're going to do that, why stop at 300 RW HP, why not go for 500 FW and 400+ RW. It's all about how fast you want it and how much you're willing to pay.
